Reflexology

reflexology

Ancient history indicates that Reflexology was practised as far back as 2330 BC in China, India and Egypt and today all around the world. Modern reflexology, where the feet are divided into zones corresponding to areas within the body, was developed by Eunice D.Ingham in the 1930’s and is now a popular complimentary treatment. Reflexology is science based on the principle that there are points in the hands, feet and ears that correspond to organs, glands, and systems of the body. In reflexology by using special pressure points on the feet and hands, imbalances in the tissues, organs and systems of the body can be both detected and effectively treated to restore balance and well-being. Reflexology is a holistic treatment, as the aim of the treatment is to treat the whole person, body, mind and spirit, to induce a state of balance and harmony, stimulating the body’s own potential to heal both physically and emotionally.

Treatment

A client consultation is carried out where we read your feet while you sit comfortably. A reflexology treatment lasts for approximately an hour. After cleansing the feet a short warm up massaged is carried out to help you relax, using oils or cream. Special pressure techniques are used to stimulate energy flow using thumbs, fingers or knuckles are then used to stimulate the points on the feet or hands, imbalances in the tissues, organs, and symptoms of the body can be both detected and effectively treated to restore and balance the body. The pressure used to stimulate energy flow is applied using specific finger and thumb massage techniques that is quite different from general body or foot massage. Reflexology is a natural, holistic and non-invasive therapy and can be used on the hands and ears also. The zones running through the feet also have corresponding zones in the hands and ears. Feedback is given and an aftercare leaflet to follow once the treatment is completed, to help support health and well-being at home.

Crystal Therapy

Good health is based on the unimpeded flow of energy through the body. It was discovered by Pierre Curie and his brother Jacques in 1880 that crystals have a piezoelectric charge which interacts with the magnetic electrical field around the body. This was developed further in 1970 with the introduction of quartz watches. Crystals transmit a frequency to able eliminate the vibrations of unease and discomfort we encounter. Working with the chakra system crystals can help to balance our energy field, nurturing our own vibrations, bringing back balance and harmony working on the mind, body, and spirit.

Treatment
Crystal therapy is a non-intrusive form of therapy with powerful healing effects which is carried out fully clothed sitting or lying on a couch. A consultation is carried out prior to the treatment taking place. Specific crystals are chosen and then laid around or placed on yourself. Through applying pressure with crystal massage to specific points, energy can be stimulated to decongest the blockage and encourage the smooth flow of energy, helping the body to heal itself and return to a state of health, adjusting the way we think and feel. After the treatment feedback and aftercare advice is given.

Touch helps people feel connected, comforted, and reassured, removing anxiety and stress

Hopi Ear Candle

Since ancient times, many cultures including the Egyptians, Romans and Greeks, have used the traditional natural therapy of ear candling on a spiritual level, to purify and cleanse the aura. Hopi Ear Candling techniques in the modern world are believed to originate from the Native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona. Interestingly, Hopi means ‘peaceful people’ and this gentle and soothing therapy is indeed well known for its calming and relaxing effects. Ear candles are now widely used throughout the modern world for helping specific conditions and to still stressful minds. The candles work like a chimney drawing up debris from the ear. The heat from the flame creates a mild suction, helping to relieve pressure in the sinuses, helping to clear the whole area.

Treatment
After a consultation you will be asked to lie on a massage couch fully clothed, ensuring you are comfortable. A candle is lit and placed in the ear and held in position with one hand while the other hand creates a seal. Treating each ear separately, as the candle gently burns down it is believed to act like a ‘chimney’ creating a light vacuum effect. The warm herbal vapour circulates around the ear removing impurities. As the candle burns down, you may hear a soft crackling sound and a warm sensation, which adds to the overall relaxing experience. The usual burn time of each candle is between ten and fifteen minutes. The contents of the candles are examined, and feedback given. The ear candling treatment can be followed by a pressure point and lymphatic drainage massage of the outer ear and face which complements the effects of the ear candling by helping to release blockages in the sinuses and ears. and ears. Aftercare advice is given.

Benefits
A Hopi Ear Candle treatment can be enjoyed purely for relaxation purposes, but the process is believed to be helpful for many problems and conditions, including the following:
Sinusitis
Tinnitus
Hay fever
Catarrh
Headaches
Irritability and stress
May help to loosen excessive ear wax
